Volume 3 - Chapter 393: Winning Glory at the Sword Pool
“Hm?”
A sudden whooshing sound pierced the air. Su Muqing’s eyes flicked toward the source, a chill blooming in her already icy gaze. Someone had dared to intrude so brazenly within the Su clan grounds? Her body tensed, Immortal power quietly coalescing around her as she stared at the figure descending at astonishing speed.
Their eyes met.
His eyes brimmed with emotion, tinged faintly red. Hers remained distant and cold, brows slightly furrowed.
“Ying Xiaoxiao…”
Li Hao stared at the young woman before him. That face—it was far too familiar. Or rather, it was exactly the same. Down to the azure-blue robe she wore, it was as if time itself had reversed and she had never left, never changed.
“Who are you?”
A surprised voice came from nearby—a girl about two years younger than Su Muqing. Her calm eyes held a gentle warmth, but her pretty features now registered shock.
She shared only a faint resemblance to Su Muqing, yet she too was undoubtedly a beauty in the making.
Li Hao snapped back to his senses. Faced with the wariness and aloofness in their eyes, he immediately understood what Ying Xiaoxiao had meant by "not yet awakened." Just like the first time he'd met Ying Xiaoxiao, before the distant fragments of her soul had stirred.
A flood of emotions surged within him, but he forced them down and said, “My name is Haotian. May I ask… how should I address you?”
A reunion with someone long known, yet unrecognized by name—it was a strange and bittersweet feeling.
To Su Muqing, however, this was nothing more than a typical attempt at flirtation. Her gaze turned frostier. She swept her eyes along the Immortal power trail left by Li Hao—originating from a side courtyard. Clearly, just another guest.
Her voice turned cold. “Since you’re a guest, then stay quietly in the guest courtyard.”
She flicked her sleeve and moved to step past him.
Li Hao had waited too long for this encounter. He couldn’t let her leave so easily. “Please—just tell me your name.”
Su Muqing’s face darkened. To her, this was an overplayed ruse—pretending not to know her, then pestering her relentlessly. Among her many admirers, this tactic was among the most pathetic. She said sharply:
“How bold. Someone, throw him out of the Su residence!”
The girl beside her opened her mouth as if to intercede, but ultimately held back. She glanced at Li Hao and gave a slight shake of her head—there was a hint of regret in her eyes.
Li Hao stared at Su Muqing’s frost-cold face, momentarily dazed. The next instant, a roar came from the skies. A guard of the ninth-level Immortal Lord realm descended from the void.
Only then did Li Hao come to his senses. His eyes fixed firmly on Su Muqing. “Please—tell me your name.”
“Where’d this brat come from? How dare you offend Miss Su? Get lost!”
The guard shot a glance at Su Muqing, admiration gleaming faintly in his eyes. Hearing Li Hao’s persistent plea, he scowled and released a surge of pressure from his ninth-level Immortal Lord cultivation.
He could tell Li Hao’s realm was merely at the first level of the Immortal Lord stage. Crushing him would be effortless. A rare opportunity like this—to show off in front of Miss Su—might leave a favorable impression.
Li Hao stood firm, meeting the pressure head-on. His own Immortal power surged outward. Though he didn't reveal the Dao-Origin Immortal Seal, the rounded, unified aura of the Great Dao he exuded allowed him to withstand the guard’s pressure.
The display startled all three—the guard, Su Muqing, and the girl beside her. None had expected someone at the first level of Immortal Lord to emit such overwhelming presence.
“So strong… That’s at least the pressure of a fourth-level Immortal Lord!”
The younger girl’s eyes sparkled with shock. Without doubt, this youth was a prodigy of the human race.
But such a prodigy, possessing strength that defied his realm… to pull this kind of stunt—she couldn’t help feeling it was a waste.
Su Muqing’s brows twitched slightly, the frost in her eyes fading just a little. Just then, a figure rushed toward them—it was the steward from the Sea Moon Hall.
Seeing Li Hao blocking the path of both Su Muqing and Su Wanqing, the steward was terrified. He hurried forward, grabbing Li Hao by the arm and offering a panicked apology.
“Ladies, he’s a new guest. He doesn’t understand the rules yet. Please, don’t take offense.”
Su Muqing cast a final glance at Li Hao. His eyes were fixed unwaveringly on her, filled with a strange and tangled emotion. For some reason, her heart stirred faintly—a strange sensation she couldn’t quite define.
She didn’t dwell on it. With a wave of her hand, she said, “Forget it.”
Then, she turned to the girl beside her. “Wanqing, come. Let’s go see how Brother Qiyu is doing.”
With that, her figure flickered—and in a flash, she vanished into the distance.
Su Wanqing gave Li Hao one last look before following. In the blink of an eye, the two women disappeared.
Li Hao instinctively stepped forward to pursue them, but the guard immediately stepped in, his pressure tightening again. His tone was icy.
“Consider yourself lucky that Miss Su let you go. Don’t go courting death.”
