Volume 3 - Chapter 389: Departure
Their gazes locked.
Di Jiming's eyes were as cold as frost. He knew that Li Hao had earned the favor of the Dao-Origin Immortal Emperor and would undoubtedly be able to enter the Primordial True Realm on his own merits—without needing a slot from the Southern Region.
Now that Li Hao had also ascended to the Immortal Lord Realm, there was no longer any chance for the two of them to fight again in the Southern Region.
But in the Primordial True Realm… he might still get another chance.
“Hm?”
As Di Jiming pondered, he suddenly sensed a terrifying surge of sword intent gathering in Li Hao's palm.
His expression shifted, anger flashing across his face. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Returning your strike.”
The sword qi in Li Hao's palm had already solidified. Without warning, he slashed forward.
Thunder roared across the heavens. The broken remnants of the Nine Sequences collapsed into a unified Dao, drawing upon the myriad forces within the void. All of it condensed into a single, blinding strike.
It was a sword filled with unmatched power—and a killing intent that ran bone-deep.
Di Jiming's expression turned from anger to shock. He hadn’t expected Li Hao to attempt to kill him under the protection of the Dao-Origin Immortal Emperor.
But he was, after all, a quasi-heir of the Imperial Clan. He refused to believe the Dao-Origin Immortal Emperor would openly strike down someone of his status. Without the emperor's direct intervention, what was Li Hao but a clown dancing on borrowed time?
With a sudden roar, his Immortal power surged.
Behind him, the All-Heavens Star Vein lit up the firmament, and a golden mark appeared on his forehead—activating the might of the Imperial Dao Nine Sequences Immortal Seal.
“You dare? Courting death!”
He struck out in fury.
His earlier blow to Li Hao had been one-third irritation, two-thirds aimed at teaching a lesson on behalf of a cousin. But now? His anger was entirely for Li Hao.
A palm strike formed in an instant—the same Emperor’s Lamenting Hand from before.
Only now, it was three parts fiercer.
The moment the two clashed, the mountaintop was engulfed in force.
Most of the crowd hadn’t even reacted before the two peerless prodigies collided.
A thunderous boom echoed across the landscape. That annihilating palm shattered beneath the force of the sword.
The sword had united the Dao, like countless chains of Immortal laws binding together into a single arc that split the palm apart.
But the moment the palm shattered, the sword qi, too, dimmed and crumbled into dust.
Both were sent flying.
Li Hao was thrown hundreds of meters back. Di Jiming’s Dharma Image manifested behind him, and he only staggered back a few dozen meters before steadying himself.
The crowd gasped.
Di Jiming froze as well, his face paling as he stared hard at the youth before him.
He had sensed it—his Imperial Dao Nine Sequences Immortal Seal had been suppressed by the seal Li Hao used.
That ultimate seal, forged through Dao unification, could instantly draw upon the forces of heaven and earth. Its speed and cohesion were beyond comprehension!
Li Hao’s Immortal energy still surged wildly around him.
He glanced at the Imperial Clan’s proud son but didn’t strike again. That sword had simply been his answer to the earlier palm.
He had only just stepped into the Immortal Lord Realm and wasn’t yet fully accustomed to it. Crossing from the first to the seventh layer to face a genius of the Imperial Clan was far too great a gap.
Still, it was a vast improvement over before. At the very least, his opponent could no longer annihilate him with a single strike.
“Come again!”
Di Jiming’s fury flared anew. He had thought the last palm would end it, yet the youth had only been injured.
So what if he had just broken through from the True Immortal Realm? He himself could overpower even tenth-level Immortal Lords!
Now he was done holding back. His full might surged forth as he prepared to kill.
But Li Hao no longer spared him a glance. He turned and strode toward the great Dao.
Di Jiming’s fury exploded at being ignored. He moved to strike again—
Only to be halted.
A power enveloped him, barring the way.
That power carried the majesty of an Immortal Emperor. Just a wisp of it made his Immortal energy collapse. The All-Heavens Star Vein dimmed. His face went pale.
He looked toward the Dao-Origin Immortal Emperor in rage and humiliation.
All he saw were indifferent eyes.
And in that instant, it felt as if thunder exploded in his soul. His anger and killing intent shattered.
He coughed up blood.
The emperor hadn’t even touched him.
It was his own fury and bloodlust—turned against him by the backlash of imperial majesty—that had left him grievously wounded.
Li Hao didn’t look back.
He stepped onto the path ahead.
All eyes followed him.
His figure shone like a divine being. And yet, there was a sense of loneliness in his solitary stride.
This youth had turned the entire Southern Region upside down. From a lowly True Immortal, he had nearly driven two of the Hundred Great Clans to civil war. Even two Immortal Emperors had emerged.
Such a tale had no precedent.
“Haotian…”
Among the Great Dream Clan, Meng Wanning and the others watched with complicated eyes—but none moved to stop him.
They knew.
Li Hao was now marked for death. Only by leaving the Southern Region, under the protection of the Dao-Origin Immortal Emperor, would he have a chance to live… and grow.
“He’s gone…”
