Volume 3 - Chapter 413: Defeat (Part 3)
Since childhood, the two had grown up as childhood sweethearts. Once they set foot on the path of cultivation, both displayed top-tier talent, advancing together, spurring each other forward.
But as time passed, Lin Zhexuan gradually pulled ahead of her. He stood like a towering wall before her—an object of her pursuit, but also a source of deep reassurance.
After stepping into the Saint Realm, however, Su Muqing began to suffer recurring disturbances from certain dreams. In those dreams, she transformed into someone else and saw countless bizarre scenes. These visions often intruded upon her thoughts during cultivation, becoming internal distractions that severely hindered her progress.
This was the true reason her pace had slowed.
Fortunately, she possessed extraordinary affinity with the laws of time—manipulating them as effortlessly as her own limbs. Because of this, she hadn’t fallen too far behind.
“It’s Brother Zhexuan!”
Su Wanqing also caught sight of Lin Zhexuan, momentarily stunned. Then joy bloomed in her eyes, and a breath of relief escaped from her heart.
But almost immediately, something occurred to her. She turned toward the youth beside her.
The aura he had just begun to release—like a hidden dragon rising from the deep—had been growing stronger. Yet with Lin Zhexuan’s arrival, it froze, then quietly dissipated, returning to silence.
It was as if a lowly insect had just lifted its head, only to be driven back into the shadows by a blazing star.
A trace of sorrow and sympathy appeared in Su Wanqing’s eyes.
She knew that in this world, any man would appear dim and unremarkable beside Lin Zhexuan. None could help but feel inferior.
Yet even though this outcome had been known from the beginning, the other party still pursued her so one-sidedly. That kind of devotion… would ultimately come to nothing.
“Lin Zhexuan!”
Jiang Huanhuan’s eyes also sparkled, gazing at the newcomer in delight.
After a string of crushing defeats, despair had settled over the human side like a frozen fog. But at this moment, Lin Zhexuan’s appearance was like a god descending from the heavens—radiant and blinding. He had come as a savior.
The patriarchs of each great family were first dazed—then thrilled. Finally, he had arrived!
On the black warship, the purple-robed middle-aged man and the demon prodigies all fixed their eyes on the youth.
This was the most troublesome genius of the human race’s current generation.
He was also on the list of must-kills.
A youth with imperial potential… one who might one day ascend to become an Emperor.
In the skies, Lin Zhexuan stood wrapped in manifestations of the Great Dao’s origin. His eyes were cold and commanding, his aura fully unleashed.
No sooner had he emerged from seclusion than the elders of his clan had contacted him, explained the situation, and tore open space for him to travel here instantly.
The human race was in retreat. Su Muqing had been defeated. Jiang Xuming—the one he had struggled so hard to overcome—had even perished.
In such a dire situation…
As Lin Zhexuan scanned the crowd, he saw countless faces filled with joy and hope. He immediately understood—he was now the last pillar of support for the human race.
With Su Muqing defeated, he had become their final wall.
His gaze landed on Su Muqing. He gave her a subtle nod. The frost in his eyes softened slightly, before moving on.
Soon, he noticed Li Hao standing before Su Zhenyuan. Though he didn’t recognize him, the youth’s demeanor stood out—calm and unaffected, lacking the elation shown by others.
Still, Lin Zhexuan gave it no further thought. After a quick glance around, he descended directly onto the black warship.
“Finally, someone worthy shows up?”
The purple-robed middle-aged man sneered.
Lin Zhexuan’s gaze remained icy. “All the defeats earlier—you’ll pay for them all.”
Without waiting for greetings or approval, he stepped directly into the Demon Ancestor’s arena.
Seeing this, Lin Daogong hurriedly tried to inform him of the demon prodigy’s details, but the purple-robed man had already waved his hand, hastily sealing the arena formation.
Inside, the demon prodigy gazed at the most formidable genius in a thousand years. He sneered—then without warning, launched another nightmare assault.
“Watch out!”
Su Muqing, Su Wanxue, and others called out urgently.
But their voices could not penetrate the sealed formation.
The nightmare power descended like lightning. Lin Zhexuan’s expression remained cold and unchanged. His eyes flickered slightly—so this was why the others had lost.
“Hmph.”
He suddenly erupted with Immortal power. His divine soul emerged, revealing seven hundred golden soul bones.
His powerful soul force held his mind steady as he unleashed one of the Lin clan’s supreme divine soul Techniques, forming a golden pagoda to guard himself.
The nightmare power was instantly blocked, only able to gnaw away slowly at the defense.
But that rate of erosion was too slow. Lin Zhexuan had already moved. Immortal power surged from his body. As he advanced, a dragon’s roar echoed faintly. Within his Immortal power, the phantom of a Candle Dragon emerged.
With a boom, the space in front of the demon prodigy tore apart. Time twisted. Three demonic artifacts flew out on their own to intercept Lin Zhexuan’s spear—only to all crack under the force.
With a single strike, he had disabled three demonic artifacts—yet Lin Zhexuan still hadn’t shown his full strength.
The crowd erupted with shock and excitement. The power was overwhelming.
At the same time, his cultivation realm was revealed: Eighth Layer of the Immortal Lord Realm!
Though not yet peak Immortal Lord, the depth and might of his Immortal power surpassed even that level.
“That’s… Candle Dragon Immortal Power!”
“He actually refined his Immortal power to such an extent? This… this is unbelievable!”
“Immortal power refined to water is already the limit. But his contains the origin of the Candle Dragon. Water becomes dragon—dragon becomes Candle—he really succeeded!”
“The legendary Candle Dragon Immortal Power of the Lin clan… someone has finally mastered it! Among peers, his Immortal power alone can crush anyone—he’s invincible in his realm!”
The patriarchs of every clan present were shaken. They could scarcely believe the young man before them.
On the demon side, faces darkened. The purple-robed man and his group now wore somber expressions.
“So this is what he achieved in seclusion… looks like those earlier sacrifices weren’t in vain.”
Jiang Qiuyu let out a sigh of relief at the sight.
Within the arena, Lin Zhexuan’s spear swept again and again. Dragon roars echoed as he shattered the demon prodigy’s last defensive artifacts. With a boom, the spear pierced through—the power of space-time fused with the violent Candle Dragon Immortal Power, breaking through the demon’s Dao Domain and destroying the false Nightmare Domain.
With a blast, the demon prodigy’s face twisted in shock. His body was torn apart.
Lin Zhexuan’s eyes turned colder. He didn’t want to give the enemy a chance to surrender. His power surged, aiming to obliterate both body and soul.
But from within the distorted nightmare projection behind the demon, a cry of surrender echoed. That projection seemed to be the true body.
As the cry rang out, the purple-robed middle-aged man darted into the arena and rescued the prodigy.
Lin Zhexuan didn’t press the attack. If the demon masters abandoned honor and struck at him directly, he could very well be killed on the spot.
The purple-robed man looked at the youth, a flicker of murderous intent flashing in his heart. He yearned to destroy him in a single blow. Such a monstrous talent could not be allowed to live. But this was human territory. Though his own Demon Emperor was watching from afar, there were also slumbering Emperors behind the Su, Jiang, and Lin clans—if any of them woke, he could be slain in an instant.
So, in the end, he restrained himself and abided by the rules, taking the demon prodigy away to be healed.
“That’s the strongest genius of the human race…”
Other demon prodigies stared, expressions grim. Some looked visibly shaken.
The sheer dominance of his Immortal power had left them in awe. To defeat Meng Qing so decisively—he already surpassed most of them.
For a moment, the despair and crisis that had hung over the human race now shifted to weigh upon the demons.
Silence enveloped the black deck. None of the demon prodigies dared step forward now.
Meanwhile, the humans roared with cheers. All across Gusu Imperial Star, the sound of celebration rolled like thunder.
“Who’s next?”
Lin Zhexuan’s cold gaze swept the deck, tinged with a biting chill. He hadn’t killed the demon—not because he couldn’t, but because he had underestimated his opponent.
Had he gone all out, the enemy would have never had the chance to surrender.
Su Zhenyuan and Jiang Qiuyu exchanged glances. Joy danced in their eyes. It was settled now.
That demon, like the earlier Chi Xu, had been among the strongest of their group. And yet Lin Zhexuan had crushed him.
Now… it was their turn to dominate!
“The Lin clan has truly birthed a real dragon,” Jiang Qiuyu said softly.
Lin Daogong smiled broadly, rare pride gleaming in his eyes. Lin Zhexuan wasn’t just the Lin clan’s greatest prodigy of this generation—but possibly the most gifted in their history, barring their ancestor.
“What’s the matter? No one else to send?”
