Volume 3 - Chapter 411: Rather Die Than Yield (Part 1)
Jiang Qiuyu could do nothing to warn Jiang Xuming within the Demon Ancestor’s Dao Arena. She could only watch helplessly as he took that fateful step.
This was the child she cherished most, and now, as the demons pressed in with provocative malice, he stepped forward to fight the first battle—staking his entire future on this clash.
Boom!
Within the Dao Arena, the Dharma Image of the Taixu God merged completely. Jiang Xuming threw his head back in a skyward roar, his eyes turning the color of nothingness. A unique and extraordinary aura emanated from his entire body.
As a peak genius, Jiang Xuming had his own means—just as Chi Xu bore a Spirit Blood and monstrous fleshly body, so too did the Jiang Clan have their own techniques. Jiang Xuming was no exception.
In the blink of an eye, celestial power within the Demon Ancestor’s Dao Arena surged backward at an accelerated rate.
A force of nothingness gradually began to corrode and blanket the entire Dao Arena. Celestial power was rejected and expelled, but beyond celestial power, there were other primordial forces—forces of nothingness that existed before chaos shattered and celestial power emerged.
The Taixu God was a being that wielded such a force of nothingness. With it, one could forge their own Dao and blaze a unique Path of Emperors.
Every Emperor, without exception, carves out a supreme path within this world. Each forges a one-of-a-kind Path of Emperors that belongs solely to them.
Thus, the realm of Emperorhood cannot be taught or passed down. One can only offer opportunities and foundations to disciples, helping them reach the peak of the Immortal King Realm. What comes after—whether they step into that supreme realm—depends entirely on their own fortune.
“What?”
Chi Xu felt the shift in his surroundings and froze momentarily. Even his All-Heavens Star Vein was affected. He could no longer draw power from the starlight.
As he stood stunned, Jiang Xuming had already activated myriad laws, riding upon the power of nothingness. In a flash, he arrived—his divine spear thrusting straight for Chi Xu.
“Taixu Dao: Divine Void Annihilation!”
Jiang Xuming let out a low roar, his eyes brimming with killing intent.
The overwhelming intent of the spear surpassed his earlier might. It was not celestial power—it was an all-consuming force of nothingness.
Even celestial techniques disintegrated instantly upon contact with that spear intent. Chi Xu’s power seemed to be forcibly stripped away. He could only watch as the spear bore down on him. His expression shifted—first from shock, then to furious disbelief, and finally to a gaze burning with murderous rage.
Boom!
A thunderous collision echoed through the Dao Arena. Celestial power and the force of nothingness clashed like twin stars colliding. Even time and space distorted slightly.
Yet the imagined scene of Chi Xu’s body shattering did not appear. Instead, a grotesque mass of bloodied flesh resembling a mountain of corpses emerged, absorbing the divine spear into its depths.
“To push me this far… you’re long overdue for death.”
Chi Xu’s voice was low and grinding, like bones being crushed—chilling to the core.
His flesh trembled violently. Overhead, the skies within the Demon Ancestor’s Dao Arena abruptly turned blood red.
His true strength was not celestial power—but his own blood power!
He cultivated by devouring all living beings. As long as he continued to devour, he would grow ever stronger. The more powerful the lifeforms and bloodlines he consumed, the faster his cultivation advanced. This was a bloodline among the most supreme of the demon races.
Boom!
With his words, a torrential sea of blood power erupted from him. The void trembled as if torn apart. Jiang Xuming was blasted backwards, flung violently through the air. Even his imperial will seemed to dissipate.
“How could this be?!”
The Jiang Clan elders were all aghast, their expressions full of disbelief.
He had merged with the Dharma Image of the Taixu God and grasped the power of nothingness—and yet he had been defeated in the blink of an eye?!
The power Jiang Xuming had displayed was already terrifying. Even a perfected Immortal Lord would fall in one strike. And yet, his strongest blow had failed to kill Chi Xu!
“Hmph, Chi Xu is a once-in-ten-thousand-year monster of the Spirit Blood Clan. He was born with the ability to ‘devour,’ capable of consuming all living beings. If not for his obsession with challenging the limits of each realm and seeking the ultimate path, he would have reached the peak of the Immortal King Realm long ago, despite his nine-hundred-year soul lifespan!”
A purple-robed middle-aged man smirked coldly at the scene. They wouldn’t have dared to visit the Human Clan’s territory without complete confidence.
Jiang Qiuyu’s face darkened. She knew—Jiang Xuming had exhausted all his techniques.
Defeat? If it were only defeat, even sacrificing an Immortal City would be acceptable. But Jiang Xuming might perish here. A genius of his caliber, destined to reach the peak of the Immortal King Realm—his death would be too heavy a loss!
On the border battlefield, a peak Immortal King could slaughter how many demons? Far more than the worth of a single Immortal City!
Human life shouldn’t be measured this way—but the truth was bloody. There were always sacrifices. Always choices.
“If it’s no longer possible, let Jiang Xuming concede. We left something inside that can relay our message to him.”
Su Zhenyuan noticed Jiang Qiuyu’s expression shift and frowned. She knew Jiang Xuming best. If even she looked grim, then their chances were truly slim.
Upon hearing Su Zhenyuan’s voice transmission, Jiang Qiuyu hesitated. Then, seeing the battlefield erupt once more—Jiang Xuming trapped within blinding blood light, struggling even with the power of the Taixu—she gritted her teeth and nodded.
They had planted a hidden mechanism in advance, unnoticed by the demons.
This device allowed them to transmit messages inside—enough for commanding strategy or issuing a surrender. Though against an overwhelming opponent, strategy meant little. But it could still be used to plead for his retreat.
The formation sealed everything off. With both sides watching, no tricks could be played. So if he surrendered, they would immediately intervene to protect him. That would not break the rules.
“Xuming, if you can’t hold on—concede. We’ve lost this battle, but as long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters!”
Jiang Qiuyu’s voice transmitted swiftly.
In the midst of the brutal clash, Jiang Xuming heard his mother’s voice. He froze slightly. But before he could react, Chi Xu’s next attack struck suddenly and viciously, slamming him into the boundary of the formation with a thunderous crash.
He felt as if his Taixu Immortal Physique was on the verge of shattering. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself up and looked out toward the edge of the arena.
There, he saw the anxious faces of the Jiang Clan… and his mother’s desperate, pleading eyes.
His blood felt hollowed out. A feeling he couldn’t describe washed over him.
The sky was gray. It felt like the end of days.
In this world, the cold wind cut like blades, stripping his flesh to the bone.
He stood before billions… his body broken, utterly battered.
Concede?
