Cultivation Begins from Infancy - Ch 1220

Volume 3 - Chapter 394: Soul Lifespan Revealed

"That might not be the case. The boy is only at the first stage of the Immortal Lord Realm."

Madam Su’s mind conjured up the image of that youth—calm and composed, neither arrogant nor humble. She couldn’t help but let out a quiet huff.

Su Zhenyuan looked a bit surprised and asked, "What about his soul lifespan?"

"Well..."

Madam Su had overlooked that part. She had originally sent the youth to the Jingwei Hall precisely to test his soul lifespan. But the impression he left afterward made her feel it was no longer necessary.

"Even if his soul lifespan stretches a thousand years and his aptitude is excellent, matching him with those three children still feels… barely passable."

Her tone held a trace of dissatisfaction.

Seeing his wife pout ever so slightly with playful charm, Su Zhenyuan couldn’t help the tenderness welling in his eyes as he pulled her into his arms.

The couple had been married for tens of thousands of years, yet their bond remained deep. Though Madam Su had borne him a son and a daughter, she still carried the air of that first meeting—dignified and poised, yet laced with innocent mischief. He adored it.

"From the way you’re speaking, it sounds like you haven’t tested him yet? In that case, we should do it first. After all, for the Emperor to bestow a marriage decree, the boy can’t be ordinary. And it’s a promise passed down from our ancestors—we, as the younger generation, should uphold it."

"Very well."

Seeing her husband speak so seriously, Madam Su relented with a nod.

When they returned to the palace, Madam Su received a message via the yaoqin and immediately summoned the one who sent it.

Yaoyin arrived at the main hall and, spotting the family head Su Zhenyuan seated there as well, froze briefly before hurriedly kneeling in salute.

Su Zhenyuan gave only a slight nod. Beside him, Madam Su motioned for her to rise and asked, "What is it?"

Yaoyin glanced cautiously at the family head, then reported that Li Hao from the small side garden wished to request an audience.

Madam Su arched a brow and sneered. "He’s only been here less than a day and already can’t sit still? So eager?"

Su Zhenyuan picked up on the hint and asked, "Wife, is this the boy who came to propose marriage?"

"That’s right."

Madam Su nodded, her voice cold. "I feared he might be coveting the prosperity of our Su clan, so I temporarily placed him in the small side garden. Yet it’s only been a day, and he’s already restless. Clearly, he came prepared. Of course, after setting foot on the Gusu Imperial Star, even casual inquiries would reveal the splendor and prestige of our Su family."

Su Zhenyuan nodded in agreement. Indeed, not knowing the Su family’s status on Gusu Imperial Star would be the oddity.

Still, he didn’t hold a poor opinion of the boy because of this. It was human nature.

"In that case, perfect timing. I’ve just returned. For such a significant matter, I should meet him myself. Go summon him."

This command was directed at Yaoyin.

Upon hearing it, Yaoyin cautiously glanced at Madam Su. Seeing her nod slightly, she hurriedly accepted the order and withdrew.

Su Zhenyuan took note of the servant girl’s subtle gestures but didn’t fault her. She was Madam Su’s personal maid, after all—her loyalty naturally lay with her mistress.

Soon, Yaoyin returned to Haoyue Hall, expression frosty, and brought Li Hao along.

Li Hao entered the depths of the Su clan’s estate, following Yaoyin into an awe-inspiring main hall.

There were no guards stationed on either side, but Li Hao could clearly sense faint auras of Immortal Kings lurking in the shadows, locking onto him. It made every pore on his body instinctively tense.

Once inside, he saw not only Madam Su, but also a tall, imposing middle-aged man seated beside her. The man’s appearance was striking, his aura restrained yet exuding a quiet ruthlessness, like a blade wrapped in brocade—gentle on the surface, deadly within.

"Family Head, this servant has brought him."

Yaoyin knelt and bowed.

Li Hao instantly understood the man’s identity and stepped forward with a slight bow, hands clasped. "Greetings, Family Head."

"Kneel."

Yaoyin, standing nearby, frowned and scolded in a hushed, angry whisper.

But Li Hao didn’t respond. As the disciple of an Immortal Emperor, he bowed only to Heaven and Earth.

Su Zhenyuan took in this gesture without the slightest trace of anger. On the contrary, a flicker of approval flashed in his eyes.

Though the youth was only at the first stage of the Immortal Lord Realm, he stood unfazed beneath Su Zhenyuan’s natural pressure—calm and unyielding. There was no doubt now: this was indeed a disciple of an Immortal Emperor.

He knew well that disciples of Immortal Emperors did not kneel before others. Doing so would be an affront to their master.

"No matter. You must be Haotian?"

Su Zhenyuan’s tone was calm and unreadable, yet carried a quiet authority that brooked no challenge.

Though he didn’t wear the cold and haughty expression of Madam Su, his presence was far more intimidating. Any lesser man standing here would be trembling with fear, barely able to stand.

Li Hao could sense it—this Family Head radiated a faint trace of imperial might. A chill ran through him.

But it wasn’t as oppressive as that of a true Supreme avatar. Li Hao had just stood before such an entity and come out whole. His tolerance far surpassed that of ordinary Immortal Lords. And his Dao Heart was not easily shaken.

He met the gaze steadily and nodded.

"I am."

Su Zhenyuan asked, "That marriage decree—was it bestowed upon you by your master?"
